Power of Assessment

Power of Assessment seminars and webinars are geared towards Registered Massage Therapists (RMT).

In these courses, we discuss the importance of assessment and treatment approaches that are tailored specifically to the clients symptoms.

We aim to help RMT's, through a 'protocol' of assessment to better aid measurable outcomes, gain confidence and help guide continuous education.

The 'Protocol'

Questions

Initial part of any treatment. We will teach you to ask more, in-depth questions surrounding your clients symptoms and if need be, branching further into understanding the full picture of a clients experiences.

Observations/Palpations

This practice is valuable. Not only during the treatment, but while assessing. How does the tissue respond to external stimuli? Do they retract in pain? What does the body show you during observations? Does this limit a clients response or ability to move? This can also tether into Range of Motion testing.

Range of Motion

We break down Range of motion testing (ROM), into 3 catergories; Active, Passive, Resisted and if need be, Active Assisted.

We will teach what muscles are involved, what joint is being effected in movement and what limitations, pain or absent movements can tell us.

Orthopedic Tests

The most objective practice we can establish as massage therapists. We will teach special and orthopedic tests. Breaking down structural, muscular and neurovascular testing to aid in ruling in pathology and the final practice to solidify what we assume from our assessment protocol

Teaching Patient Centred Questions

Investigative questions, aids our understanding what the client is experiencing. It also establishes a foundation for further treatments, if we are going in the "right direction," or if modifications need to be established
